Jill Diskan
Community Planner

Jill Diskan has over 25 years of urban planning experience. She chaired the Commission on the City Plan in Hartford, Connecticut during its revision of Hartford’s Comprehensive Plan, holding hearings in neighborhoods throughout the city to solicit ideas and recommendations from residents on land-use issues. She also was one of the founders of Riverfront Recapture, Inc, a non-profit community development organization dedicated to developing and implementing a long-range plan to reconnect Hartford with the Connecticut River. Ms. Diskan was previously a Ward Planner with the DC Office of Planning and a legislative assistant with the DC Council's Committee of the Whole. In those positions, she helped manage one of the first Comprehensive Plan amendment cycles in 1989. She also led two national environmental organizations and helped lead the Peace Corps' expansion into Eastern Europe and the countries of the former Soviet Union. She served as an Advisory Neighborhood Commissioner in Ward 3 for six years, four of them as Chair of her Commission. Her work at OP is focused on the public involvement and outreach components of the Comprehensive Plan Update.
